Simple Past Tense

 

                               Definition


The Simple Past Tense is used to describe actions that happened and were completed in the past


 (हिंदी में परिभाषा):


सिंपल पास्ट टेंस (Simple Past Tense) का प्रयोग उन कार्यों के लिए किया जाता है जो अतीत में हुए और समाप्त हो गए।



✅  Affirmative Sentences


Rule:


Subject + V2 (past form of verb) + object

(No helping verb)


Examples:


I ate an apple.

मैंने सेब खाया।


She went to school.

वह स्कूल गई।


They watched a movie.

उन्होंने एक फिल्म देखी।



❌ Negative Sentences


Rule:

Subject + did not + V1 + object

(Note: Use base form of verb after "did not")


Examples:


I did not eat an apple.

मैंने सेब नहीं खाया।


She did not go to school.

 वह स्कूल नहीं गई।


They did not watch a movie.

 उन्होंने फिल्म नहीं देखी।



❓ Interrogative Sentences (Yes/No Questions)


Rule:

Did + subject + V1 + object?


Examples:


Did you eat an apple?

क्या तुमने सेब खाया?


Did she go to school?

क्या वह स्कूल गई?


Did they watch a movie?

क्या उन्होंने फिल्म देखी?


❓ WH-Questions 


Rule:


WH word + did + subject + V1 + object?


Examples:


What did you eat?

 तुमने क्या खाया?


Where did she go?

वह कहाँ गई?


When did they arrive?

वे कब आए?


Why did he cry?

वह क्यों रोया?


How did you solve the problem?

तुमने समस्या कैसे हल की?
