Past Perfect Continuous Tense

            💡 Definition


Used to show that an action started in the past, continued for some time, and ended before another action in the past.


             हिन्दी परिभाषा:


Past Perfect Continuous Tense (भूतकाल पूर्ण जारी काल) वह काल होता है जिसमें किसी कार्य की शुरुआत भूतकाल में हुई, वह लगातार चलता रहा, और किसी अन्य कार्य या समय से पहले समाप्त हो गया।


इसका प्रयोग यह दिखाने के लिए किया जाता है कि कोई कार्य कितनी देर तक चल रहा था और वह किस समय से शुरू होकर किसी अन्य समय तक जारी रहा।

Subject + had been + verb (ing) + object+since/for + time


English To Hindi Translation


He had been studying for 2 hours.

 वह दो घंटे से पढ़ाई कर रहा था।


They had been playing cricket since morning.

 वे सुबह से क्रिकेट खेल रहे थे।


She had been working in this company for 5 years.

वह इस कंपनी में पाँच साल से काम कर रही थी।


I had been waiting for you for 30 minutes.

मैं तुम्हारा 30 मिनट से इंतज़ार कर रहा था।

English To Hindi Translation


He had not been studying for 2 hours.

वह दो घंटे से पढ़ाई नहीं कर रहा था।


They had not been playing cricket since morning

 वे सुबह से क्रिकेट नहीं खेल रहे थे।


She had not been working in this company for 5 years.

वह इस कंपनी में पाँच साल से काम नहीं कर रही थी।


I had not been waiting for you.

मैं तुम्हारा इंतज़ार नहीं कर रहा था।

📝 Notes:


Use “since” for point of time: since morning, since 2010, since Monday


Use “for” for duration: for two hours, for five days, for a long time
